Fudan Student-Athletes Clinch Gold Medals at Shooting World Cup

By

On April 8 (Beijing time), BU Shuaihang, an undergraduate student at the School of Journalism of Fudan University, won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle / Pistol Granada 2026 with a score of 244.5. He credited years of systematic training in China for the breakthrough and pledged to carry his competitive discipline back into academic life.

Looking ahead, he expressed his commitment to staying true to his original aspirations, training diligently to refine his technique, and honing his competitive mindset. He aims to achieve even greater success in higher-level international competitions, “contributing to China’s shooting sports while bringing honor to my university, and demonstrating through concrete actions the responsibility and dedication expected of young athletes in the new era.”

On April 9 (Beijing time), at the ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol Granada 2026, XIAO Jiaruixuan, a fourth-year undergraduate student from the School of Journalism at Fudan University, advanced to the 25m Pistol Women Final by ranking first in the qualifiers. After two intense shoot-offs, she won the gold medal. Congratulations to Xiao!

Xiao admitted that the entire competition was challenging, but fortunately she persisted until the end. Last year, Xiao earned a bronze medal in the women’s 25m Pistol during her first adult-level World Cup appearance at the 2025 ISSF World Cup in Ningbo, China. This victory marks a new personal best for her. Looking ahead, she said she would thoroughly review her performance to prepare for the upcoming World Cup in Germany.

19-year-old Shooting Prodigy BU Shuaihang

Born in 2006 in Luoyang, Henan Province, Bu began his shooting training in June 2019 and was selected for the Luoyang City shooting team. In 2021, he swept three championships at the Henan Youth Shooting Championships and earned the title of National First-Class Athlete with a score of 573 in air pistol. By 2022, he was chosen for the men’s pistol training camp at Henan Province’s Shooting and Archery Sports Center. That August, he advanced to the national youth training team—achieving this milestone only four years after taking up shooting.

At only 19 years old, Bu has already showcased impressive potential on the international stage. In 2023, during his international debut, he claimed gold in the mixed team 10m air pistol at the World Junior Shooting Championships as well as silver in the men’s 10m air pistol event. The same year, he secured a runner-up finish in the mixed team 10m Air Pistol event at the Rio de Janeiro World Cup, marking his first time on a World Cup podium. In 2024, representing China at the Munich International Shooting World Cup in Germany, Bu claimed silver in the 10m Pistol Men Final—his first individual World Cup medal—and earned the title of “International-Class Master Athlete”.

Congratulations to BU Shuaihang and XIAO Jiaruixuan! We look forward to their further success on the international stage!
